More Polyp Extension with Lower Temp?

I've noticed trememdous polyp extension on my sps lately. The only changes I've done is lowered the temp to 75 and I've fed once an old bottle (1-03 didn't realize it was so old) of kents micro-vert. Anyone else using Micro-vert or running their tank around 75?

There are all kinds of threads on this topic on the SPS forum.

Water quality
Lighting
Food in the water
feeding times
Fish that don't nip....
Flow

all have something to do with it, what most agree is that if they are extended at night then everything is cool, and that they can be "trained" to come out and regular feeding intervals.

My personal theory is that in addition to all of these, certain species....SPS speaking......will have a tendency to be out more often....ie Chips Acro, Digis.....etc.......

I think light and flow play a large part in it.

Well I haven't changed the flow or lighting since setting up the tank, but I'm sure you're right. Always a bunch of factors involved. I'm just glad the tank is looking good, and stuff is growing.

I have many SPS's that get super large at dawn right before the halides go on and they have just actinics on. The temp usually is a little cooler (around 76-77) at these times (not sure this is what caused it or not). The polyps will be extended the sweeper tentacles on those that have them will be recessed. I use micro-vert and spot feed them in the evenings every 2-3 days but have not noticed them extend during the feeding. In fact I have to be careful of not squirting them too much or they will close up. I always figured it was the lighting and they were increasing their surface area to capture more light?

Maybe but It could be the new salt I switched too as nothing else has changed for a while but salt and temps. Mostly my milli, things are like a half inch long and longer!

Im noticing my tonga corals coloring up better too. My temps fluctuate between 76 and 78 right now.

FWIW.....after reading a couple of threads a little while ago...I bumped mine up to 80 and have had super growth and coloration....PE depends on the genus in my tank.....some have it, others don't.
