more skimmate after water change

after i do a water change i notice more watery skimmate.does anyone have an opinon why this happens?

Is there more water in the tank then before to raise the amount of water that Is getting to the skimmer. I am not sure what type of skimmer that you are using but I know on my recirculating skimmer before I had the ATO I had to watch the water level in the sump cause the higher the water in there the higher in the skimmer. Also if your skimmer has a venturi valve try turning it down a bit.

Your new water you added will much less DOM (dissolved organic matter) This is what the skimmer pulls out. When I do water changes ill dial down my skimmer for a few days or even turn it off. This will depend on your bioload, but you can go skimmless until your water is "mature".

I'm pretty sure it's related to the higher pH/alkalinity/redox of the new water. It makes the protein skimmer run more efficiently.
