OK, so I ordered a 15 tall for under the new 54 corner. I have an rs-80 skimmer and am getting the eheim 1260. I realized, that with this equipment, I will only have 3 inches left for a refugium. So, I am thinking about using the pump externally.
!) What do you think?
2) Does this need two holes drilled?
3) where would you get it drilled? Country Critters wants 30 bucks a hole!!
Any help and opinions welcomed.
Thanks,
Boneh

I plan on buying a diamond bit this week for 1" bulkhead as soon as i figure out what size i need, I'd be happy to drill it for you if your willing to wait for me to finish procrastinating. I think I need a 1-3/4" for a 1" bulkhead, but i cant figure out if thats for schedule 40 or schedule 80, i'm assuming i want to go with schedule 80.

I don't know what the h@!@ you're talking about re: schedule 40 or 80 etctera, but it sounds like you might be offering to drill the tank for me? That's very decent of you. What kind of hardware would I need? I'm not picking up the tank till Friday, so if you are getting ready to drill around then, just let me know. Otherwise, I might go ahead and have the store do it. Thanks. And Ray, yes thanks, I uhm duh hey don't know what I was thinking about two holes. LOL.

The schedule 80 bulkheads are heavy duty but require a bigger hole.

I havent decided if they are necesary yet.(i'm leaning towards not) I dont know if i'll have the bit by friday, has to be shipped, but if i do i'll let you know. All you need is the bulkhead fitting.

Just wanted to comment on SAVKO. I found the valves that they sell are excellent. It's the GF single union and true union. I ordered a number of them when I was doing my piping. The only regret that I have is that I didn't order enough. i changed my piping plan when I was ready to assemble and need afew more and wnet to Home Depot. No comparison in quality. The GF valves are free moving and when you want to close them they work without having to use excessive force. Big difference in quality but definitely worth the additional cost. Their's a reason the other valves a cheaper.

If all you have to do is make one hole in a 15g you might want to try a dremel. I used a dremel on my 29, made 2 holes with the fish still in the tank. on that thin glass probably only take about 5-10 minutes.
