Morphing- reasons and results?

I have recently heard that a polyp does not change, unless it is unhealthy or not lineaged to a "name"......and found myself dumfounded....Have I lost my mind, or is this true?

What factors will cause a healthy polyp to change, and what does that particular factor change?

Does flow effect the way a healthy polyp might look? How might it effect its looks? Lighting? Nutrients??? Water quality?

Do any of these change a healthy polyp? How?

Looking forward to hearing some of your experiences on this subject.

theres a thread on a local forum from one of the OLFS who propergates Zoas and hes had the same zoa "morph" colours/patterns over time, when a morphed polyp would appear he would remove that single polyp and then its offspring more often than not would look the same as the morph, continuing the colour on

Man you know these answers already, you even answered them yourself in one of the links below. Don't doubt your knowledge when you know it to be factual.

Yourself, 650, Geoxman and many others made some great and factual points in the links below which I feel yields all the answers to your questions/concerns. Note the dates of the first post in each link below.

Thanks for the links Mucho. That pretty much clears everything up for me., except one thing-

Do these changes in environment, that cause the morphing, cause the polyp to be unhealthy? And that is the real reason its changing? Its unhealthy? I dont beleive this is true.....and would like to hear what others have found, or their opinions on the subject.
