Morphing?

Gives Bad Advice.
I have two clusters of the same zoanthid. I bought it as one and when i moved it it feel apart. Now what i've seen happen is that the polyps on the larger colony is more of a paly with quarter sized polyps and has some with stems of 1 1/2 inches long while the other ones which are just to the right of them have more color much smaller heads and stems. Any thoughts? They recieve even light up until recently but they've always been like this. Any ideas?

Length of stems, size of polyps and color, IME, can vary with anything from subtle differences in lighting, flow, orientation, and anything else I'm not considering. Skirt length varies with flow, at least. Some are very fickle and change drastically, others seem to stay pretty much the same no matter what conditions you put them under.

The fire and ice zoanthids I've had for about 18 months are about 3/4" around in my display, with two concentric blue/gray rings and pure white mouths. In my girlfriend's tank, they're about 1/4" with almost no skirt and solid bland gray. In another spot in my tank they're about a half inch with one gray band. In my nano they were just like in my girlfriend's tank but with much longer skirts.

Almost all of the zoanthids I've had have changed some, some of them have changed a lot, and some look completely different than when I bought them.

I'm rambling.
