Most amazing tank video ever (octopus)

Guys, check this out--this is someone feeding their octopus. According to the tank owner, " Watc closely as you will sees the most amazing transformations as Clyde goes for the silverside. Those changes are not from lighting, they are Clyde in his hunting mode, or maybe mating mode. Anyhow, he just doesn't settle for the silverside, he wants the stick too. "

I want one! I actaully read up on them, and evidently octopi are extremely intelligent, able to figure out traps and toys--some owners give them legos to play with, or treats in closed babyfood jars for them to open.

Amazing.

He looks like he wants bigger food!! I saw a couple at Pets Warehouse a few months back, they do look amazing. How big do they get??

Christine,

That was an awesome video. Thanks for sharing.

Last year I was set to buy another tank fit for an octopus (one with a lid that kept the tank closed). I also read about how they could uncork/unscrew bottles. The big thing that stopped me was that multiple pet store owners said that most of the mini octopi sold have a short lifespan (6-12 months). There are other species that live longer and are quite pricey. The octopus in the video seemed bigger than the mini octopi.

Anyone else here ever had an octopus?

Anyhow, that is such a cool video that I have to go watch it again....thanks.

I did see that Larry, thanks--learned a lot. From talking to people who have kept them I ahve heard taht in most aquaria they do have a lifespan of less tahn 2 years, but if they are kept at the proper temperature (which evidently most are not) they can live considerably longer--to 5 years or so. Just have to really research the species you get and get a chiller if necessary--

They are certainly not easy to keep by any stretch of the imagination.
