I agree with DanTodd in principle and in general - But on the other hand the "handful" of people who can take a dying fish or coral & nurse it back to health are probably not enough to significantly impact the industry on the whole - but that's just my guess - no stats...

More importantly, Karen has helped a lot more than 2 people save or properly take care of their BTA's. And she's even educated them on how to encourage cloning. So IMO, her personal net effect on anemone collection off the reefs has been very positive.

Yes, she certainly has. Her site is an excellent place to learn about basic BTA care. I just hope there aren't a lot of people going out and buying anemones in distress from stores across America. Remember; every anemone purchased from a disreputable retailer is money that isn't going to a reputable store.

No arguments here - but it's so hard sometimes - I just "saved" a fish from a LFS that had been kept in appalling conditions for about 5 weeks - but I also vowed never to set foot in there again even though I'll have to drive a lot further now to get a certain fish food

what does that have to do with this thread? are you trying to push your opinion onto others? does it bother you that others think differently?

that is caflos opinion. he is looking at the hobby as a whole. karen is caring enough to look at the suffering of the individual animal. each has his/her own good reasons.

is it not enough to state your opinion and leave it at that instead of trying to push your own opinion in a condescending manner. his statement is also based on the entire tracking system of the animal and not what is obvious at the lfs.

In Karen's first reply she said that she was saving the anemones from a LFS and then she encouraged anyone near Tyler TX to go and give $80 to a fish store that was not taking adequate care of their livestock. Otherwise this would have never been part of the thread.

I have not (and will not) post anything that attacks others. There is no reason to close the thread. As for being on you ignore list, that is certainly your choice and a tool that the moderators have been kind enough to make available. I have only ever added one person to my ignore list.

Why is it that salt water shops can get away with not properly feeding their live stock and keeping them in terrible conditions. I've seen this many times in salt water shops. It's so sad. They wouldn't get away with treating a dog or cat like that very long.. Are there not any regulations? Maybe we should focus on making some!

While this is not exactly on topic to the thread unfortunately one of the posters here has taken to sending personal attacks via PM. I understand that it is not typically polite to repost a PM conversation; I feel that it is appropriate in this case since the PM in question was completely unsolicited.

It is really sad that this whole thread has blown up this way, I don't know if the PM was sent specifically for the purpose of getting the thread shut down but I think it does shed light on some of the postings.

please don't use PM to attack me. If you aren't comfortable posting this in the public then please reconsider sending it.
