Mounting 6000 to Magnet Mount

I just installed a 6000 in my new tank and have the magnet mounts to go along with it. I am puzzled as to how I have it connected and want to make sure I have it correct because it is vibrating like crazy. And I know it is not the fault of the head or the mount... Just the installer.

Here is a picture:

The magnet mounts to the glass and the piece with the hollow peg sticking up & teeth around the rim slides into the magnet. Then the powerhead slides down on that insert and rests there. No screwing firmly into place? Did I do that correctly? Am I just questioning myself just too much?

Thanks,
Matt

Also, if I do not use the intake tubes that fit under the reefpack 500 is that okay or must I use them? I have them mounted in and they are a little low to the bottom of the tank. Does the length need to be specific?

Thanks & sorry for the thread spam..

I used one of the plastic screws that comes with the 6000 and one of the plastic nuts. It's the screw with the bigger head. I don't have a pic though sorry.

Great :) Thanks for the help.

Roger, I know the micro bubbles from the comline side are common during the initial setup as the manual indicates. Do you know approximately how long I can expect the pump to blow bubbles into the tank?

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

Is the pump still vibrating? They do this more when new, but if it is extreme a part may have come loose in shipping. Did you install the rubber feet? Make sure the teeth on the arm and post mesh together, that should be enough to hold it.

The bubbles can be caused by several things, when new there may just be air in the cartridge. It can also be caused by high KH, oxygen saturation or a clogged filter. They tend to always produce some bubbles intermittently but not very many. The included cartridge is very fine, a coarser filter will reduce this as it reduces degassing due to vacuum. I would use the intake strainers to prevent animals from entering the filter.

I figured I was just reuse this tread to ask my question:

I have a new 6100 and the magnet. I don't need my pump to swivel from side to side, plus, I don't like how the whole pump moves up and down everytime the controller switches it on and off. So, I was wondering if I could mount the 6100 directly to the magnet somehow? I want to have the flat, back side of the pump touching the flat side of the magnet. Thus it would be more compact and wouldn't move around when switched on and off.

If no, what kind of glue would stick the stream's plastic to the magnet's plastic?

Thanks!

I cannot think of a way to do this besides using glue but I don't advise that as it will certianly complicate maintanence. The magnet will stick to the sink and just make it hard to clean the pump. I don't think it is a good idea, if anything I would glue the holder assembly together so it can't turn.
