Mounting Montipora Capricornis

I just purchased a Montipora Capricornis, my first SPS coral, and I was wanting a few tips on mounting them into the aquarium. (Mainly where to attach them using super glue) Are they attched from the bottom resting 100% of the coral on a rock, or try and glue just an edge portion so the rest hangs off? They are decent sized frags, one is 6 X 4 inches the other is 4 X 3 inches.
Thanks Sanford

If its already starting to cup and scroll then put the apex (bowled out portion of the central body) on the rock. If you want to you could breal it up and glue the pieces down in a couple places and they'll all come back.

Truth is, it doesn't really matter, if you glue it on an edge it will encrust up the rock from where you glued it. If you glue it flat, it will grow out and then start to cup up toward the light. The end result will probably look pretty similar. JMO. If you do have a decent size piece bshumake's idea is not a bad one and you could develop a few "shelves" that way or at least seperate them so that if something bad happens to one you'll have a copy. Or, you could do what I do and just wait until your clumsy hand breaks off a little frag (which will almost undoubtedly happen with how thin these things grow) and then re-glue the frag somewhere.

thanks for the tips! I hope I can get this stuff to grow. And Barrett have you ever made a hang on the back refugium? I was thinking something simple, to grow algae and pods to put back into the system.
thanks Sanford

Why is it that every thread with Barrett in it goes into the gutter so quickly?:D

I have mounted caps very cafefully.... only to find that if they like your tank, they will grow everywhere in any crack or crevice you shove them. Give them light and water movement and prepare to frag.

I have thrown away pounds of cap just to get rid of it because they will shade the entire tank if they are up at the top.

I would put it as low as your light would allow to minimize the shading of the corals below it.
