Mounting stress? *pics*

I recently picked up a monti cap from a local reefer and added it to my tank. After a day in the tank I guess I got too anxious and ended up mounting it. Mounting it was pretty stressful on ME! because I was only using superglue and the cap was a bit heavy for super glue. Jaime and I were able to get it glued into place, but after a few days I noticed it was starting to rtn at its base where it was mounted. I had read many people saying when using epoxy any place that touched the epoxy seemed to rtn and the cap would grow over the rtned spot, I just want to make sure this is similar. If not do you h ave an suggestions on what I should do?

It took about 3 days to get to this point. I still see a few pieces flaking off but you can kind of tell where the area is that might flake off up to. Seems like stress to me but I wanted to be sure. The majority of the piece looks super healthy and I figure if it was too upset it might be rtning from all sides.

ya i think if it was really affecting the whole colony than the RTN would spread pretty rapidly right. like over the course of 2 or 3 days?

it is going on the 4th day since it was mounted. actually make that the 5th. and it looks like that. so yea im pretty sure its mounting stress. thanks guys!

When mounting a frag with superglue, if you can hold the glued part under water while it dries, it helps keep the temp down and helps to avoid additional stress.

I actually mounted it completely underwater I don't really know why this happened except that we only waited about a day before mounting the coral
