Mouth Fungus

I purchased a lemonpeel angel 2 weeks ago. He looked perfect when I brought him home.

He has now developed mouth fungus. He also has what appears to be a white spear sticking out of his body on one side at the top where the fin meets the body about in the middle. Sorry no pictures yet.

I am treating the mouth fungus with Maracyn Plus but I wonder if that will also take care of the white spear. Or is that an external parasite which may need another type of medication

He is active but naturally not eating.

Anyone have a clue what the white spear is ?

Can you provide a picture? While fungal issues do happen in SW they are pretty rare.

Well, I treated the tank with Maracyn Plus (fungal) and Melafix (bacterial) for 5 days and low and behold...... fungus (or what ever it was) is gone.

I can do this as this is a fish only tank. Too lazy to quarantine.

Not sure if it was bacterial or fungal but its gone. I just did a 50 % water change and we'll see if it comes back or not.
