We are getting ready to build a custom home and I need a way to make my current tank transporatble to sell our current home and to move into a rental until our new home is built. So I came up with this............

Idea:
1. Large enough for the corals to grow out over the enxt year
2. Easy to move with minnimal breakdown (on wheels)
3. Ease of access and use

I Purchased the tank from Tenecor at a huge discount as a customer cast-off. Tenecor had made a couple of bad cuts. Good for me! I had them make the external overflow boxes, cut the teeth and drilled holes for CL..... Total...$800

The sump a couple of us locals built as an experiment and it has worked out awesome! I purchased the acrylic from a local PLastics company (Port PLastics) and had them cut it to what I had designed. I borrowed the basic design from Melev's reef http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sumps/f/sump_f.html and just changed up the dimensions. Also I went with 1/2" acrylic so as not to need a top brace.

A shot of the refugium side of the sump. I really like that I have the sump and refugium as one unit. I currently use a pump int he center compartment to feed the refugium. Later I plan on altering the plumbing so as to have two overflow pipes feeding it.

Ha Ha Ha You should have seen my wifes face when I moved the old tank and she saw the rust stains! she stared quietly for awhile and finally said Well...... I guess we're doing bare concrete in the next house.....

As for why we're moving it I'm selling our home and peple just seem to think it would be too much work to own a tank this size. so to keep us from having to break down several times before it ends up in the final home.

The tank up and running. So far we are having a small but expected algae bloom. No biggie. The corals seem happier in this shallower tank though I have had 2 fish jump and die. UNfortubately we did have one coral casualty and it was my Wall hammer of 5 years who was almost 1 1/2' across :( :(

Thank You! The frogspawn has been with us for over 6 years now started with only 4 heads and now has over 60. Unfortunately when we moved it to the new tank it broke into 4 large pieces. Needless to say it is one of my favorite corals too.
