moving 180g

Finally found a nice 180g......in Jackson
Anyone have any words of advice on moving a big tank.
I'm planning on taking out as much sand out of it as possible.
Is it better to set something this size on a foam pad or should I go the other way and put it on a piece of plywood?
TIA
Anne

I moved my 125 twice and both times I left 1/2-3/4 of the sand in and put it in the back of the truck on plywood and lots of comforters and sleeping bags. Foam would probably work good too. A 180 is a lot heavier so you will probably have to take the sand out. Get lots of muscle help. I had 5 people to lift mine. A 180 too much fun!!!

I have a 135 glass tank, I moved with carpet under it. Unless you are going to drive crazy it shouldn't move at all. I assume it is acrylic, but it will still be heavy. Take the sand out.
keep us posted on the move and set up.

Yeah Anne! Take some pics when you get it home. I would come help but I am totally wiped out after yesterday.

Thankyou to all that offered your help today...........

The tank (glass by the way) has made it home.
After getting use to looking at a 55g for the last 3 years, this is one big mother!!!

Can't wait to start filling it up

Anne,

I am currently out of town, or would've volunteered to help. Congrats on the new tank. I'm sure the rest of us Woodlanders are all envious! :)
