Moving a BTA ?

I am moving and I need to empty my tank for transport. I have a BTA and it has been in the same spot on the back of the tank for more than a year. I have a urethane foam and aragocrete backdrop that is fixed to the back of the tank so I need to get the anemone to move off it so he can be transported.

How do I get the anemone to move without harming it ? I tried placing a picture of a sexy girl anemone on the other side of the tank but that didn't work.

Suggestions will be appreciated.

you need something that is flat, but strong enough that you can GENTLY work it under it's foot, a LITTLE at a time, until it is free. maybe an old credit card, driver license. something along those lines. even a fingernail as long as it's not sharp. of course once it is free, be VERY GENLTE. good luck.

I have no way to get to its foot to pry it off - it is wedged in nicely.

Should I point a powerhead at it or is that too much flow ?

I wouldn't directly point it, at least not real close to it, you don't want to BLAST it. I wouldn't get a real strong PH. Hopefully it will irritate it enough to move, and hopefully it moves to a rock, is there a nice rock close by? If not put one on both sides and hope for the best.

i have heard to ice the foot? but it could have been bs considering the LFS that threw out the advice

You can put ice on their foot to get them to let go enough to slide a fingernail or something under the foot and then very very gently pry them off. I don't know if that would work in this case though, if they can't even get to the foot. Changing the flow in the tank might make it move but I agree to not blast it. If you can figure out a way to shade the 'nem so it moves to get back to the light, that might also work.

Ill start with the shade technique and I also moved a rock next to it in the "light". I will let you know how it goes - thanks for the recommendations.

How long should I keep it shaded before I give up - days, weeks ???
