Moving a fish to a new tank safely.

Greetings, i am planning to make a new aquarium and i would like to transfer a purple firefish from my old aquarium to the new one. The problem is that in my old tank i have asterina starfish which i do not want to transfer. What is the safest way to do so?

Drain down the tank, remove rock & herd the fish into a corner then a net.
