This weekend I will be moving about 20 minutes away.

I have a 55 gallon column tank with.
-2 ocys
-Melanurus
-Lil' Foxface
- 3 banggais
- A bunch of coral sps/lps some softies
-A huge rbta

2nd tank(brand new):
-80g 4'x2'x16" rimless deep blue tank
-stand
-curve 7
-eshopps r100 sump
-sicce return
-80lbs live sand carib sea
-Kessil ap700
-Jaebo DP-2
-Vortech MP40qd
-Magnafuge light

I would like to and plan on setting my new tank up the night I move in. This will obviously mean I will not be able to add livestock.
Is there a way to minimize my cycle? I would like to have this tank going asap (I know I know be patient). I currently have sand in my 55g but im thinking of going bb when I move it and using it as my qt eventually. I am only running an aquaclear on it right now as my PSK100 broke yesterday. That is why I want to move my livestock into the new tank asap, plus my foxface needs his bigger home, same with my melanurus. I also have a spotbreast being shipped in fairly soon. worst comes to worst it'll be a bit cramped in the 55.

I also have a 20 gallon brut filled with tons of live rock I've been hoarding.

Any advice on moving the livestock/ tank, and setting everything back up. I will be doing this alone, i'm new to the area and really don't know anyone that could help.

When I moved, I emptied the water and LR into containers until there was just barely some over the sand. Then I set up that tank in my new house.

For you, since you are getting a new tank at the same time... Do the same thing, but put most of your LR into the new tank and split the water between them. Add some new water in your new tank and top off the old. Check your water in the new tank to be sure it didn't cycle. Then move everything over.

When you add new rock, just put in on piece every week or so to make sure you don't trigger a small cycle.

I'm still semi-new, but I have moved and upgraded tanks before and I never had an issue.

I don't see any reason you couldn't place everything ti the new 80 gallon tank. Ideally you would have the additional rock you are adding to the 80 already cycled, but if you use new dry rock there should not be another cycle. If you plan on adding live rock to the 80 cycle it in either a separate container on your old 55 before adding it to your new tank. You will want to wait a few weeks before adding any additional livestock that what you have now so the bacteria can stabilize, but the live rock in your current 55 should handle your current needs.

I picked up some seachem seed to throw into the 80 tomorrow when I set it up. Haven't used seed before but I have used biospira. I'm hoping that the cycle goes quickly if at all. The aquaclear I have on my 55 right now is just not doing the job.
