Moving into town!

Greetings!!:wavehand:

Early next month, my family and I are making the move from Chicago to Orlando!! Going to be sad leaving all my Chicago reef friends, but hope to make some new ones down there!

A little about myself:
I have been reefing for several years, a member of several boards (asked to be a mod on one but declined due to time constraints).
I also am an avid DIY'er. My specialty is custom tank stands and canopies. Check out my gallery for a few pics of recent projects.
I am moving down there to be a new General Surgery resident at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Fun times!
I am always willing to help out be it knowlege or moving help.
I also am an avid coral fragger and always willing to do trades!!

Just thought I would say "HI" and browse your board to try and get to know some of you.

Cheers!!

Wow. I lived in Elmhurst. I was born in Melrose Park. I went to Emerson Elementary school and lived directly accross the street from the school. Well actually it was directly accross the street from the church which is next to the school. Havent been back there in about 18 years. I just moved ot Dallas from Orlando. Orlando is great. I love it there. But most jobs dont pay as much as other places and the real estate prices are absolutely ridiculous. Thats why I moved away. The weather is much much better than chicago though.

Welcome to Florida a little early then! It is always great to meet new people and we have a really nice group of folks here and some really great LFS too I think you'll be most pleased!

Please when you get a chance come to some of our meetings and check out all the cool places we have in o-town.. we don't bite :)

Small world!!! We live at the corner of West and Crockett about 2 blocks from the school! One of our boys goes there (Emerson) in fact!!

Thanks for the rest of the welcomes. I look foward to the meetings! Saw lots of LFS's when driving all over Orlando looking for a house. Had to resist going into all of them!!! Addicting hobby for sure!

I may ask for some move help with my tank when we get down there. Would only be for about an hour moving the 125 into the house. Stay tuned as we are still finalizing plans. Free frags for any who help!

May have lots of frags after moving as I can never get the rocks to sit the same after a move and don't want the colonies to spread everywhere. Have some bright orange polyps and a GSP colony that I frag out often.

Very nice woodwork, especially the one on pg 3 with the built in side cab. Welcome to Orlando.

Thanks! That is actually my DT!! My baby! My pride and joy!! Where most of my free money goes!!! The monster of a beast that may kill me moving it down there!!

Welcome to Orlando, hope you enjoy it down here, I just moved down here a year ago from STL and I like it here most of the time, just a warning people here haven't figured out how to drive properly yet :-). If you need any help moving I'd be more than happy to lift a sofa or two

Where at in Orlando, are you moving to. With some notice I will be willing to come help you with moving. Let me know.

Yes, Well, I am Seth, nice to meet you, if you join ORCA, i am at all the meetings and make myself seen...and am also a forum-rat, so i make my ways around these threads, so you will be seeing alot of me ....hahaha, well, it isnt TOO bad down here, you will find alot of good people with the same hobby that are willing to help JUST as you are, so that makes a great team!!:)

Welcome! As you get closer to know when you need help, post it. I don't think that anyone on this forum has set a tank up or moved alone...

By the way, If this doctor phase passes, you could make a decent living making stands and canopies...

; )

I have thought about it. Then days like today come along. Stupid stain/polyurethane mix just will not go on right. :mad2: :blown: :uzi: This stand may be the end of me!!

Thanks for the warm pre-welcome everyone.

What I may need even more than lift help with the tank is some pre-mixed, aged RO/DI water. Around 50-60 gallons worth. Going to pack things (rocks, corals, sand, ect) in large rubbermaids with just enough water to cover things (fish will obviously have more water in 5-gal buckets) but that will leave me about 50 gallons short to fill the tank so the overflow works correctly to my sump/fuge. There will not be enough time to hook up my RO/DI unit AND make that much water, not to mention mixing and aging (aerating) it.

I may also need a second set of hands to help run the PVC lines to the sump and get it all hooked up quickly. As it is right now, the sump is in a different room, it will be going back underneath the tank when down there.

Hope some of you can donate some to this cause!! I will trade beer for water (just not in the same gallon-for-gallon ratio)!!

Welcome to Orlando, your stands and canopies are pretty impressive. Hope you enjoy it down here, I think you will like ORMC, its one of the better hospitals down here in my opion.

small world. i think mrs. smith a memeber or orca also is a doctor at ormc. welcome and good luck with the move. check out or page at www.o-r-c-a.com and check out the upcoming Southern Reef Conference we are hosting. great speakers will be attending

let me know when you want the water. i run a 7 stage rodi and have plenty or oceanic salt around. i'm in titusville but depending on what side of town you are moving to will depend on how far away you are. i also have plenty of pvc and fittings just hanging around ranging from cpvc, 1/2" 3/4" 1". just shoot me a pm and we can see if i can help

I can get an easy 30-40 gallons of tropic marine RODI water but I don't have enough 5 gallons buckets to haul it all in one trip I don't think. So would depend on how far you will be.
