I'm going to be moving my sump to the basement and will have to drill it for the return pump. You think a 1" bulkhead will be big enough for a MAK4 pump? The return line will be 3/4"
The intake on my mak 4 is a 3/4" Might be a little simpler to just use a standard 3/4" inch bulkhead. Im not sure what you are going to gain with a 1 inch bulkhead. You would have to reduce it down to 3/4" anyway to connect to the MAK.
IMO I would always go as big as possible. That way if you ever wanted to put a different pump on it you already have a larger bulkhead. Another aspect is you never want to starve a pump, this will increase wear and tear on the the pump causing it to not be as efficient dec gph that it puts out and increasing is electrical usage. I would put in a 1 1/2 or 2" bulkhead.
I have a hole saw for a 1" bulkhead so I think I'll go with that. The 1" union valve would be cheeper also. Unless someone has a 2 3/8" glass hole saw I could use?
