moving my tank 2 inches

I was doing it alone so I moved each end of the stand just a little by sliding it. I did drain it into two 32 gallon garbage containers. I left about 3 inches of water with fish in. They seemed not at all stressed-just kept swimming like normal checking out what I was doing. I think that was less stressful than chasing them with a net and putting them in a new environment. Used a pump and gently put water back as quickly as I could without causing a sand storm-I poured the water over rock so it just trickled down gently. All seems fine. I'll test it to make sure I didn't create a mini cycle but figure its probably like low tide???

I can slide my 55 with 20 gallon sump on hardwood floor no problem without draining any water. Just make sure to slide from stand at lower part so you dont tip the tank. other than that, pretty easy.

Yeah I had my husband slide an almost full 55. He braced his legs against the wall and used them to do the pushing. It did splash a little water because it was like he pushed harder and harder and then it came unstuck all of a sudden causing a wave that went across the tank and then back at him right in the face :D

Probably if I'd had to do it myself I would have overthought it and made it really complicated but he's more git er done with brute force about stuff like that.

I just tested it after everything has settled down. Everything but nitrate is 0. Nitrate is 20. I'm going to test again tomorrow and see if the nitrate has come down with the rock taking care of it-if not I'll do a water change tomorrow.
