Moving tank across county... advice?

We are moving across country for Orlando to Las Vegas. We have a 65 gallon reef aquarium that we will be moving. We are going to only keep a couple of fish, but would like to keep all our corals. What is the best way to move our tank across country? We were thinking a bunch of 5 gallon buckets. Got a better way?

I would take them to your trusted local fish store (i would recommend SITC or WWC) and have them hold your livestock until you are ready and then have them ship it to you overnight. This way you can be set up and ready for your critters, and if anything goes wrong you are ready to handle the situation instead of scrambling if something happens while you are on the move. Also, you will probably need to get new sand, and the live rock will have some die off so you do not want to be stuck with a lot of coral in a tank that "might" go through another cycle. Good luck and sorry to hear you are leaving Orlando! I know if i had to move my corals across the country and something went wrong in transit/setup that would be devastating, not to mention a lot of lost $$$.

I moved from Fort Walton Beach, FL to Thief River Falls, MN..... 2000 miles. I tore down my 180g in FL and took a few pieces of equipment, but sold/gave away the rest. No sense in causing undue stress to the system and my family.

Set up a new system and maybe change some things that you always wanted to change.
