Moving tank over.

I'm moving my tank over tonight or tomorrow. I have my 34 going into my 125 right next to it. The 125 has been up for months with no fish or coral in it. What advise do you guys have for me as far making the move?

What order? Do I need to acclimate as if I bought elsewhere or do I just move stuff everything over? How do I make this as easy as possible on myself?

What is in the 125 as far as rock/sand? Are you moving rock from the 34 to the 125? If your water parameters are the same in both tanks, you don't need to acclimate.

When it comes to livestock, I would do fish, then corals.

125 has about 80lbs of rock and 120lbs of sand. Ill be moving another 40lbs or so of rock over. Not moving sand over.

I would just move the rock over first, then your fish, then corals. You may want to take out a small amount of water from the 125 first if it is filled for water displacement from the rock.

Cool thanks. And good call on removing water first. I don't think I would of thought that through.

Everything went smooth. I'm not thrilled on the aquascaping, but it was all just kind of thrown in. Ill rework it this weekend.

Lights off

That's good everything went well. I don't think the aquascape looks bad. I'm going to the store to get some fine sand like your's today.

I guess the rocks aren't terrible but I have some pretty flat pieces I could use as shelves and they are not.

I don't really know about the sand yet. It's finer than I wanted, but was to cheap to pass up. The tank has been running for over 3 months now and it took almost the first month just for the water to clear up. Now that its aged a little bit it doesn't stir up near as easy and settle in minutes, but if money didnt factor in I still would say go with something a little bigger,

Now that the lights are on everything is looking really good. I thought it might of taken a couple days for everything to adjust.

glad every thing went well wes

Thanks buddy. I don't have much for sps, so who's know how it would of went then. I've have been terrified to make the move. I had a ton of problems setting the tank up so I imagined that nothing would go as planned. I guess I haven't won anything yet though. It's just been a day.

Ps. Now I'm paranoid and need to go check on my tank.

If you dont have spa your probably golden... looks like it turned out OK. All the fish are probably loving it

I have a couple digipora's. the Boston bean one hasn't really shown its polyps much. It's far from fully extended, but already looks better than it did in my 34. Even though I felt like I kept pretty good care of my 34 I wasn't doing something right. Maybe my light needed replaced or something. Everything open up last night. My sps and lps really do look the best they ever have.

I was anticipating this move for month and not that it's done it's almost disappointing as weird as that sound( I'm sure someone can relate), but now I no longer have to look forward to the move. I guess now I buy a house and get a bigger tank. Jk. Jk. Well until I get a bigger house.

No I didn't think it was. It didnt have the best skimmer but my nitrate stayed fairly low and I only had 1 fish. I just say that I wasn't doing something right bc after one day a lot of my corals look the best they ever had. Not just the coloring but polyp extension. I feel like my tank wasnt hard it just requires some tine once a week or so.

Did you run any kind of gfo or carbon?

Nope neither. I assume I had some phosphates but nothing that salifert detected. No carbon either. At first I ran a little fuge in back , but I think it was to small to do anything. I did run chemipure for like 6 months, but it didnt really notice a difference in anything so I only went thru 2 bag before I stopped using it. There were upgrades to me made on the 34, but I just decided on going with a bigger tank. But out of anything I ever did or tried. There's nothing like a good water change.
