Moving tank to tank

Right now I have bought a new 29 gallon tank and set it up. From my old tank (29 gallon) I have taken the live rock out along with 2 sponges Iv had on my old tank for 1 year+. So all the rocks are set up in new tank along with the filter running with the established media in them. Also bought new sand for new tank. I took a cup of sand and put the cup inside the new tank to help I guess with the cycle. Everything is running in new tank.

My old tank still has its old sand on there along with power head and there are three fish still in there. But the filter I took out and put inside new tank. Will the fish be okay in the old tank without the live rock and filter going? Will my new tank be very well cycled? Main question is if the fish will be okay in old tank with the old sand, power head until I get my new tank up?

Old tank- water little cloudy from taking rocks out. Should I take them out? Water change? Put filter back? Add to new tank?

Just move the fish to the new tank. there should not be a new cycle unless you left the rock out of the water for a log time.

I tested for ammonia and it showed up a little bit. Not sure if the test is messed up or not. Also not sure if the fish are ok in old tank or I should just put them in and do water change till it's ok. I assumed there wouldn't be a cycle, but test shows otherwise.

Get another test of the water, maybe at your LFS. What kind of test kit is it?

If the rock was moved reasonably quickly to the new tank, there shouldn't be any ammonia.

In the other hand, the old tank has lost its main filtration and has all the old dirt/sand. I would expect the fish to be getting uncomfortable in there. You might want to throw some Prime in.

The test kit is API, not reliable I know. Is prime okay with neutralizing ammonia? Should I be soon water changes in the old tank? Or just leave it alone and dose prime? I don't have amquel on me. I'm worried about my fish:(
