Moving tanks.

From previous posts you may know i currently have a small 6 gallon tank. Set up my 30 on friday so its currently cycling. My question is what is the best way to transition everything over? I have live rock, some corals, peppermint shrimp, emerald crab, sand sifting star and clownfish. Should i just bag it all up and treat it like i just i just got it from the LFS? Or is there an easier way? Thanks

if the water is the same sg and such id put all the lr and sand in first.

then drain half the water from the 30.

pick up the 6 gal and dump in the 30.

lol kinda crude but i would so do it if it was my dilemma.

When I have upgraded, once everything was ready I just scooped everything out and put them into small buckets and into the new tank. The buckets were the little buckets kids use in the sand box. good luck

Get the water temp and salinity the same in both tanks...

Move the Rock AND Corals..

Then drain the 6 gallon down to less the half. Just enough room for the fish to swim.. Drip water from the Display tank into the 6 gallon until you double the water over a period of about 30-45 minutes.. Then with a plastic up or small container take them with the least amount of water you can in the container and put them into the new tank..
This should be the least stressful on them....
Prob over kill but I JUST Do not like to stress the fish..

Assuming you're using a sandbed as you have a sand-sifter.

So when you buy a new fish you just DUMP the bag water and all from the fish store into your display?

Why would you not acclimate fish to a new water in a new tank?

no. he goes in a temperature matched bucket of fresh TAP water for at least 10 minutes.

then salinity is slowly brought back up during the course of an hour before he is in the DT. (FW directly to saltwater can induce a heart attack imo)

i do it with all fish. inverts... just go in he DT.

no velvet, only 1 mild case of ich on a regal tang. tbh id rather do it quickly and be done with it. no use prolonging things for hours or months. but that is just my personal opinion.

stating "never" go from one tank to another is way less stressful than my manhandling methods.

Ok thank you everyone for the imput. I been testing the tank daily and everything is perfect except ph. Yes sand in both tanks, ill be leaving some in the original since it will be my quarantine tank. But once the ph is good, how long do i need it to be at those levels? 1 week or 2? I read conflicting stories.
