MP-10 magnet uncoupling

I've had this unit in storage for 3 months. Now I've started a smaller frag tank and the magnets keep uncoupling.

The new tank is 1/2" acrylic. Any suggestions as to how to resolve this?

Thanks,

Mark

If it's been in storage than long, I would take the wet side apart, soak in vinegar, brush with a toothbrush, and reassemble. Might be just enough buildup, even though you can't see it, to make the wet side drag. I had the same issue with a MP 40, it spun free, or so I thought, but after cleaning no more problems.
Also are you using the right spacer for a ½" thick tank?

I had problems with my MP10QD decoupling. According to the specs - the MP10QD works with tanks up to 0.375" thick. My glass tank was 0.5" thick. The magnetic hold is not strong enough on the MP10QD for tanks great than 0.375". It would be nice if they made the smaller model work on thicker tanks.

I have used an MP10 on .5" thick glass previously, it works but the unit can fall off pretty easy so you would want to make sure something keeps it from falling off and damaging it. If its a major issue then the only option I can think of is buying the MP40 and operating it at a lower speed.
