So I have two MP-40's running and the aquarium has snails. They can't coexist.
Once the large snails craws into the front of the MP-40, that is when the MP-40 is getting knocked apart.

I have has smaller snails go in the side of the cage. It does not hurt the pump and I think outside of a spin and rejection, the snails are fine too. I have never had a large snail go in.
I had this happen to me as well. Desroyed the wet side shaft and magnet, $100 down the drain. I now use the foam cover and that seems to keep the snails away.
I have this problem. Every other day there is a snail trapped in the wet side. I never had this in other pumps (and I have tried many)
Is it not possible to make a design where everything that gets in is ejected as other similar pumps do? I never had this in the Tunzes. Since I am often away I am seriously considering to install the Tunzes back, although I like the stream of the Vortechs.
Or at least provide a foam cover that does not get clogged so often. Should I try to make it myself with some kind of net? Has anybody already made it?
