Hi all,
I have a quick question was wondering if the vortech MP10 would be enough flow for my 46gal bowfront also useing a magdrive 9.5 with a sea swirl wavemaker for my return the tank has sps and a few soft corals..
Two would probably be better; one on each side. Plus, that way you wouldn't have to jack the power up on just one. They get notably hotter and noisier if turned way up. I have an MP10 and as yet have only experimented with it on a regular 10g tank. Seems to have very good flow.
I have my MP10 on a 34 gal Solana and it replaced two K-2's. Works great! It is rated up to 50 gal and has a rating of 1575 gph, so that is about a 30x turnover. I like to target 40x turnover which you probably have including your magdrive. I cannot run mine on full power in the Solana and keep it at about 60-70%.
I would give it a try since I have not found the reviews of the MP20 to be near as positive as the MP10 or MP40W.
