mp20 or mp40w

Hi, I think I've read most threads in regards to the mp40w and some of the mp20. I've have to say I'm very impress and decided to take the plunge to get a vortech, but I don't know which one would be a better match for my tank.

Currently I have a wavy sea with an eheim 1260 return pump as my wave maker and its doing awesome. I have no powerheads, so I like the simplicity look with no bulky items in the tank; but I'd like to get something thats more "efficient" (eheim 1260 pulls 65 watts and wavy sea has an rms of 9 watts <---whatever that means).

I have a 40 gallon breeder tank with two cpr overflows and a 20 gallon sump which is sps dominated, with 3 lps and 2 soft corals with fine sand.

So which of the two would you recommend mp20 or mp40w?

How would the wave making capablities of the vortech affect my overflows? I'm concerned when waves are created the water level would take a temporary dip below entrance of the overflow.

Thanks

This is a tough call. You may want to start with an MP20 because you could get away with only that pump. However, you will probably not be able to create a wave. You could then upgrade to an MP40w if you are not satisfied.

Thanks Tim, I just want to make an informed decision.

If you need a beta tester for a 40 gallon breeder, you know where to look. :D
