MP20 weak flow !

Hi Tim,

I have just bought a MP20 yesterday but after installed, I feel that the current flow is quite weak for my 34g (L24*W19.7*H19.7 inches) RSM tank. I can't feel the current flow from the unit to the end of the tank and the setting is Reef Crest Mode with full force, 2000g/h.

Is there any further adjustment?

Try to set the mp20 to constant mode which I believe is green and see if you can feel the flow at the other end of the tank.

The thing is with reefcrest, the amount of water flow will vary; one second it could be pushing 2000gph and the next second go down to 500 and back up to 1000 down to 800gph. You get the idea.

Also, make sure the knob on the controller is turned up to "max". I made that mistake.

I have already adjusted to the "max" but still feel that the flow is slightly weak however still acceptable. I should have got MP40W instead :( ! Wrong move :mad2: .

its hard to believe that 2000g/h is weak across a tank thats only 24" wide...

do you have a video at all??

After 2 days break in, the flow is getting stronger. However, if I can reverse back the time, I will get MP40 instead :D.

This video was taken under Reef Crest Random mode of my Vortech MP20 and picture quality is slightly blur due to my HP can't produce high quality video stream :( .

James,

nice vid! It really shows the overall movement of the pump. Thanks for posting!

btw, your rose anemone is beautiful.
