MP40 competition?

The Atlanta Reef Club is doing a group buy for these at $35 each not $62.50 (40 to 100 units bulk rate). I emailed Fishstreet to see if we can get the same deal. If so we will need greater participation. I'll keep you posted.

Okay....I am also in contact with the Atlanta Reef Club....I think the price of $35 each is directly from the manufacturer and not Fishstreet...I am checking. Fishstreet quoted $15.25 shipping for each unit IF we get 40 units but right now they want $62 for each on a group buy (I'm checking this also). I asked Atlanta Reef Club if we could possibly tag onto their group buy but that will mean we would have to pay additional shipping from Atlanta to Long Island.......I don't have the manufacturer's name etc but I could ask if we had enough interest here, (40 units.....Atlanta is over 50 right now).

Okay guys here's the scoop.....Atlanta Reef Club (ARC) IS purchasing directly from the manufacturer NOT from Fishstreet. I do not have any connections with the manufacturer. I believe ARC will allow us to join in their group buy but we will have to pay the additional shipping from Atlanta to Long Island. So figure $35 for each unit plus shipping to Atlanta ($15 ?) then shipping to L.I. ($?). You will then need to puchase the universal adaptor ($12....maybe we can have a separate group buy on that). SO.....figure on spending around $60 to $70 per unit (w/out the adaptor).....I don't have an exact figures yet.
Based on that......I need an better idea of the # of units to tell ARC that we (LIRA) want..... based on this thread we're at around 10 to 15 units....but I will need a committment. As soon as I get more specifics I guess I'll have to start an official group buy thread.

Can you ask the Atlanta guy for the contact to the manufacture? Id rather deal straight from the manu then another person down south. Too many moving parts in my opinion. I'm sure if we expand to MR or even NYRC we can come up with enough for a group buy of our own. Thoughts?

I did " kind of " ask but I didn't get a reply.....I will ask again.

On another note.....I asked if the manufacturer could send our portion of the order directly to me rather than to Atlanta....so that's a second option and would save us the second shipping cost. I'll keep you posted.

If we did our own group buy we would need to purchase 40 plus units......I don't see that much interest here.....

Also I really don't want to be responsible for collecting, managing and divvying out the units for MRC and NYRC in addition to LIRA....it would be alot of work.

If someone wants to step up and take control....that would be fine with me.

I sent an email directly to Jebao asking for the same deal as ARC.

HOWEVER.....if we can tag on their group buy and just have ours sent directly to Long Island that still may be better due to shear volume.

We'll see what the responses are.

This works for me.

Frank,

You asked for a more precise idea of the count, but, I'm still really foggy on the exact price with shipping. So I'm going to say put me down for 4, and that's assuming the total price, whatever the shipping, will still be well under $100 ea. Like somewhere in the vicinity of 50 to 60?

This whole shipping *per unit* thing is ridiculous! It should be determined by the weigh of the box of however many are in it.

But then you still need to solve that problem of how the money will be collected and the units distributed.

As a side note, I find it amusing that most likely many of us try to avoid buying things made in China, but just give us a really competitive price and we can't send them our money fast enough! LOL

If this ends up being only LIRA members, as far as collecting money could we possibly use the Club PayPal account? Then we can send the money via PayPal as well. Or does the club frown upon being involved in group buys? I was also thinking could we get the shipment sent to Austin Blvd and everyone could pick them up at the next meeting or at their convenience? Again assuming this all happens. Food for thought....

George.....I believe the price WILL be below $100 not sure about $50 though.

thavngr98.....I just picked up the ball on this and started running....however although we are posting on LIRA RC....the club is not running the group buy....but I could ask it they want to......I did not want to spread this to "other" clubs because it's too much of an undertaking for me to post, organize, collect, distribute etc. a group buy for multiple clubs. I initially was just interested in picking up a couple of extra pumps for my tank but since I'm doing this anyway I figured I would extend the same to LIRA members. Me personally..... I don't want to get involved with anything but cash....pay and you shall receive....I'm not going to fool around with other types of payments.....sorry...been burned too many times.....if you want you can deal directly with Fishstreet or ARC or Jebao.

In the meanwhile....I contacted Jebao....they state that the minimum order at the "$35 each price" is 100 pieces w/US 110 voltage plugs.....that 100 count doesn't make sense since Atlanta Reef Club is only around 60 units so I'm a little confused, (I asked for clarification). As mentioned earlier we can tag on the ARC group buy ....and I'm trying to have ours sent directly to me so we can save on shipping. I'll keep you posted...right now I told ARC that we would like 10 to 15 units......they are waiting for shipping costs and will get back to me with the total $ per unit. I will post when they give me a deadline for ordering and a final figure & maybe I will start a different thread for the "Official LIRA Group Buy".

Thanks for the update Frank. Like I said it was food for thought. Let us know what other feedback you get. Oh and thanks in advance for all the work you put into this already!

Got a response back from Jeboa......less than 100 units purchased on a group buy will result in $40 per pump NOT $35....(ARC also raised their price to $40). Supposedly only over 200 units will get you the $35 price....(don't ask me for a price between 200 and 100 LOL). Now waiting on a shipping price per unit. It may be possible to have our own Group Buy @ this price....once I confirm I will start another thread. If it is NOT possible then we are back as a tag along on ARC. Keep in mind that Fishstreet will give us the pumps (over 40 units) for $62.50 each plus shipping of around $16 each so if Jeboa exceeds $78.50 then something would seem to be incorrect....I am confirming the shipping price with Fishstreet as well (so we have multiple options). Not sure how I will be handling payment to either and if the use of Paypal will increase our cost by their charge.
I'll keep you posted.......

Well.....just heard from ARC.....they will not ask to have the order split (IE: 60 pumps to Atlanta and 25 pumps to NY)....in fear that Jebao will hike the entire shipping price up for everyone (in effect ARC members having to pay for our 2nd shipping location.....which is understandable).
So...where does that leave us: 1) pay the extra shipping from Atlanta to NY, 2) have our own group buy directly from Jebao OR 3) our own group buy from Fishstreet.
Once I hear back from Jebao (regarding shipping and confirmation of a group buy for us)and Fishstreet (regarding shipping per unit) I will clarify our options.
