MP40 competition?

fyi they don't offer discounts on multiple items as far as shipping is concerned. so you're still looknig at 26$ each of shipping.

I was looking at them for my 180 softy and 75 sps tanks, but they are HUGE (like a softball) and the flow is NOT adjustable. You can alter the modulation of the wave, but they always ramp up to full power which at 4500 gph is a little more flow than I was looking for. I'll stick with my MP 40 and maxijets for now.

I read alot of that thread....and would be interested in a group buy if we decide to go that route. Maybe we can contact the seller and ask about a bulk shipping rate. From reading that thread...we would need to specify US 110voltage for the proper electrical cord and also need to purchase a simple voltage regulator ($12) to control the flow rate (otherwise the units are full on at 4500gph). I would buy 2.

I sent an inquiry to them regarding this.....I'll post their reply when they respond.

40 units @ $20 to $25 each for shipping = $800 to $1000 for shipping....it might be cheaper to fly out there to pick them up, (LOL).

I read most of the thread, the flow is adjustable with a variable power supply or with a dimmer.

I read that the Atlanta Reef Club is getting them for $35 each......plus shipping....I sent a PM to their organizer....maybe we can tag on to their group buy. Any idea which variable power supply most are buying and HOW they connect to the powerheads?

????? Are you sure? When I entered 40 into quantity, the shipping was reduced to ~$16 each, and a coupon code gave a 3% discount on the pumps

I'm in contact with Eric and he will be getting back to me regarding using his UPS shipping account. I'll keep you posted.

The Atlanta Reef Club is doing a group buy for these at $35 each not $62.50 (40 to 100 units bulk rate). I emailed Fishstreet to see if we can get the same deal. If so we will need greater participation. I'll keep you posted.

If the GB happens I'll take 5. (That's provided you can get a realistic shipping rate -- if it's $26 EA, I'd probably go for 2 only.)
