mp40 disassembly problems

So I came home and turn up my mp40 for a bit, and 5 minutes later noticed it was flashing green and red (first time seeing error code) so I wet to take it apart and clean. I cannot however seem to disconnect the magnet from the housing frame at the bottom, even after a vinegar soak. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

BTW, I have watched all videos and the looked in manual and never had trouble before, I'm wondering if it jammed or burnt into plastic or something?

I had the same thing happen to my mp40. After a long vinegar soak and much prying I managed to get the magnet off and found that the magnet must have heated up and fused to the plastic. Much of the plastic was pitted and irregular and the magnet itself was pitted and the coating was disrupted. I think it was grit getting in to the area. I sent the wet side back to ecotech and even though out of the warranty period they sent me a new one.

Walt,

I would recommend ensuring the pin spacer is set to the correct aquarium thickness. That said, please call in today to discuss your warranty status.
