MP40 placement and Radion Pro recommendation

My tank is 3'X4'x2'. It is viewed thru the 3' width. It is mostly SPS. I have 2 mp40's. Would it be better to put them across from each other (on the 4' side) in the middle, or put them on the same 4' side equidistance apart? Or third option put 2 across from each other, and get another? Question on the Pro's. I have 2 coming, how will the coverage be on my tank. I plan on running them long ways perpendicular to the 4' side roughly 18" apart.

Thanks!

Alex,

My tank is a little unusual. I have used the calculator before. It doesn't really help me on placement. That's why I am asking for your advice. I can't put them opposite each other on the 3' foot sides. That is my view side and against the wall, so no room for the dry side. They have to go on the 4' sides. That's why I am asking what do you think would be better. Still have them opposite each other in the middle (but are 2 enough to cover a 4' length) or put them on the same side 2' apart?

Hollywood,

It is difficult to say. I would start with both MP40wES units on the same side running in sync. If you find that your corals are not responding well, I would then experiment with different configurations.

Hollywood,

No problem. If you have more questions, and want to discuss it with us more please give us a call 1-800-785-0338 Ext. 2.

Old post but need some advise. My tank is Length 47" height 20" width 21". My return from the sump is in the middle of the tank with the flow going the same direction as much as possible with the 40 and I have an MP 40 on the left side. The right side of the tank has very little flow unless I kick the MP 40 on high the issue with that is everything on the left side of the tank is getting blown away.
On Ecotechs flow and pump adviser shows that a single 40 is what I need for this tank. Just not getting enough flow on the right side and keep everything good on the left.
So I decided to go against the advisor and ordered another MP 40 my question is should I have them facing each other as to cause more disturbance in the middle and get some better back and forth flow for the corals. Or what I would really like to do is mount them both on the back of the tank so they will not be so much out in the open.
I know either way I will be running them on lower settings just wanted to get some advise as to if placing them on the back of the tank will provide the correct flow for the tank.
I do have mostly LPS corals but will add SPS after tank has matured more. Tank is about 6 months old.
I have been looking at other pumps but really like the idea of no cords running in the tank.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks.
