MP40 Pricing

Is the new pricing on the MP40 a permanent change or temporary?

$465 dropped to $395.25 is a big difference.

It's still going, and I got a couple emails from retailers saying there was a price reduction.

Oh wow, maybe your right. BRS has the MP40 for the reduced price, while the MP60 and MP10 are the same old prices.

Said the guy who joined today.
Oh sorry,
Hi all, My name is CrookedStick and I'm a reefholic. Been in the hobby for a few years now. I spend most my money on the SPS type. I've been lucky the past few years, but old tank syndrome must be catching up and now it's time to start getting help.

This is my third post, and with the help of RC, I hope to become a regular of this forum and cure the old tank syndrome.

But out of all their MP's the 40 seems to have the most posts that are problem related.
I guess another reason might be that they are releasing it's replacement due to all the issues users are having. But before they do the are allowing the current one to be discounted so that vendors can clear their shelves for the new product.

My guess is the are discontinuing the current model and a new version is coming out soon or a different model all together.

I have 4 MP40s and they keep on going. Keep them clean and free of coraline and they will last forever.

Is it because the MP40's are having so many issues.

That's funny I have had mp40's for a very long time and the only issue I had was my damn scallop landed on the blades and ecotech replaced my blades free of charge even thou it wasn't a defect or there problem!!!

P.S. that's what I call customer support and that's why I keep buying there products

Maybe because Neptune is coming out with a wave pump. Can you say competition?

Think we all are looking forward to this! Don't get me wrong, EcoTech has some nice products, but I doubt that any real % of their profits have gone back into R&D. I love it how some relate them to Apple! Look at their lights, they all have this huge external box attached to them. Could you imagine your IPhone if it had a long cord attached to it which went to its battery that fit inside your lunch box.

The only correspondence I see between them is their lack of innovation.

So you would rather have the drivers inside your light itself with all the heat they produce?

The lights are small and look great, the single cord doing to the drivers/power supply is great. It keeps all the heat away from the fixture itself, and in case you never noticed...........all of the high end lighting does this.

I would stop shot of saying "all high end lighting does this" but I do agree that it is common knowledge that when using cheaper drivers with smaller or cheaper electrolytic capacitor you should house the driver separate.

Some companies today use more expensive drivers which contain long-life electrolytic capacitor or they have been able to design the casing to allow the driver to operate at a temperature below it's electrolytic capacitor's TC point.

I love my AI Hydra 52 lights.
