mr big

thanks all, glad to see others think he's pretty cool too.

Grouperhead, yes he was on their site listed at 14", and he looked every bit, I was surprised he only measured out at about 12"

will have a video soon - its so hard to show size in still photos.

I would think pretty much everything he throws in the tank!

LOL, that's what I'm thinking. We need a feeding vid :D

not a pic, just a frame capture - hawkfish reacting to being nipped by trig.

things not so good. hawk not eating yet - trigger beating up on him. little hit after little hit taking their toll. filling the 100 now to remove hawk.

He was in a 50 for at least a year - so i don't feel 100 is so bad for the time being.

OMG i have so much to do - what did i get myself into??!? I wish sometimes a 20g mantis tank would be enough to satisfy me.

Things settled down last night, not nearly as bad as the first two nights. Also hawk ate last night (like a black hole, just slurped everything up - fresh shrimp (1/2 of a 16ct big one with shell) a few silversides and about 1/2 of a small octopus (in pieces)).

The 100 is ready, but im going to try to wait it out a bit longer, I was hoping to put the smaller hawk and my reef into it. Carpet goes in tomorrow - so I can get the 135 setup much nicer - better rock config. etc... since I think that is part of the problem - not enough "territories".

Fyi the tess is gone bye-bye, I traded it for the bulk of the hawkfish cost. I guess the whitemouth is just too sexy and stole my heart away from the tess.... lol (edit: also future bioload concerns and the fact that the "eel tank" didnt come off as planned)

... back to work on vid now... :p

Glad to hear the trigger is laying off the hawk a bit now. Hopefully it was just a "get to know you" type thing. Nice to hear he ate well too.

Everything might be a mess right now, but when you are done you'll be able to just look back and smile. Your stuff always looks great and this will be no exception.

What happened to the eel tank?

I used the wrong silicone, thought i had all geI but one tube was geII which has bio-seal added to it - toxic to good bacterias and fishes alike, so I had to remove it. I still have a lot of silicone to remove to restore the 65 to usable condition, but the egg crate didnt make it.

Thx Bo and Chris, 'preciate it. :)

Wow. That sucks. Hopefully you found that out before losing any livestock.

You said it bro!!! that sucks!

And yes, i realized what i did preemptively.

so NOW the hawk has beat the living daylights out of the trigger :( arggggg, didn't expect that (not terrible surprised though, but more so after the titan established dominance first).

which means 100g hawk tank will go ahead as planned. substrate is in, most of the water is in, as soon as it comes to temp hawk will go in. Tomorrow, hopefully, will plumb the sump for hawk 100 - set up trig 135 (keep it running on HOB filters for time being) - move peacock to solo tank - and wire halides for reef move. :) no more hiccups hopefully.

cheers, thanks for tagging along everybody, it helps
