I run the genx pc55. It sure does the trick. Now if i could only get it to keep skimming without constantly adjusting the gate valve i would be all set.

I have a Reeflo MArlin running my MR2 and I have to keep adjusting the gate valve too. Pretty annoying. I have to call MRC, but haven't got around to it yet.

I am a soon to be proud owner of an MR-2. What is the best way to set this up in sump and I am looking for pump recommendations (quiet would be nice).

Here is a pic. It will be cleaning a 90gal. I will be removing the riser and one of the injectors until I need them. :)

I was able to use an older MR-1 with some parts from my MR-2 to get it up and running in my bin of curing live rock. Works great!

Well just to update on my previous post's. I went with a panworld pump w/mrc after my genex went out. They treated me right. I was afraid I might have to wait and deal with the manufacturer but I was able to pay the difference between the 2 pumps and they shipped the new one out w/free shipping. They also sent me a shipping label for the return pump. Cant ask for any more than that.

I cant believe how much quieter the panworld pump is and I couldn't be happier with the skimmer. I cleans great and there was no lengthy breakin period before it started either. I was so pleased with them I just ordered one of their RO/DI units from them.

Has any on put a flow meter on there skimmer. I have a MRC2 with a blueline 55HD pump and I am getting more than 50 SCFH of air that is where my meter stops at. I was told I would never see more than 40 to 45 SCFH of air.
If so what is your skimmer pulling?

turn the air down & u should hit 45 SCFH
i keep my becketts at 40 SCFH i like the way the bubbles look at 40

I've got a recirculating MR-3 that I run the water level just an inch below the flange. With that water level I run about 16 scfh thru each beckett and I get the skimate I want. I can run the level lower and push more air but I seem to get less skimmate. Works for me.

Do the beckett skimmers require more cleaning then say a ASMG6 or a reefflo 200? I was thinking about on e of these or a dual beckett mrc 4. Any info would be great ..thansk..

Yes, imho, beckett skimmers are a pita...

I had to double check this was the MRC CLUB thread...Thanks for your honesty...I have been weighing a ASM G^ or the reef flo 200, any preferences..

Thansk

i have both ASM & Beckett, IME u will get those tiny little snails in both of the skimmers so yes they require maintenance other then that u will get salt creep in the air inlet on both, i like my ASM in my sump on my 50 gallon but my MR-2 works awesome in my bigger tank, i cant speek for reefflow as i have never own one i have seen them in action & they work great.
JM2C.

Steve thanks for the air flow meter help.
erics3000, I love my MRC-2 skimmer it pulls very hard. By fare the best skimmer I have used in the last 14 years.

wish i had seen this thread earlier today. i was going crazy rebuilding my ecketts and injectors! i cleaned out my skimmer today but now the water level is not steady in the chamber. i set it at 4 " but its not smooth at all liek it used to be. i seen the u tube mod and raisning the becketts are better also?

are there any other mods i can do to help my skimmer out! i also seen the teflon on the becket for a tighter fit, thats a good idea!

It sounds like you are getting back pressure. Is it in sump or out?

If it is in sump you might need to put a T on the discharge.

its out the sump. it drains into a tub i have. but there is no pressure on the drain. i have the drain about 2" above the water it flows rightinto it. i also have a t before it drains to help with the flow! i added teflon tape to the 1 becket that was loose and it seems to be a little better now. ill see in the moreing.
