Proud member now too. MRC1 and MAN does this skimmer skim...

I was a tunze owner and liked it, but now that I have this skimmer, Man it's sick.....

Mine is one day broken in brand new and is skimming already. I have the injector wide open and the gate valve about 3/4's open. Water level is about at the rim of the box itself and Holly cow. I can't wait to adjust this monster!

Well I still have the gate valve about 1/4 closed and adjusted the injector about to the 3/4 mark from open. I now have small bubbles starting at the bottom of the box then rise to about 3/4 up the 12" tube to large and it's skimming still. The skim is still not that dark so my question is will it darken up or should I adjust it again.

Night and day. The tunze worked well don't get me wrong and the customer service is superior. I just think I needed a bigger skimmer and this presented itself. Thanks to my buddy BigBoy I got one. He is running the MRC2 with dual becketts and OMYGOSH! His is kicking arss....I can't wait until I have mine set just right.

I can't comment on the OCTO as I have never seen one in action.
 
Is it normal when you feed the tank for the skimmer to go flat? Mine drops about 5 inches in the riser? I guess I would rather it go flat vs overflow!!!!!

Is this normal and does this happen to anyone else?

I know this may sound crazy but has anyone ever thought about making or fabricating a DIY bubble plate type diffuser for these skimmers? Like the BBK and other diffuser plate type skimmers?

Just curious? I would imagine you could do it out of plexi glass, mounting it inside the tube would be the hard part I guess????

i made one for my U tube mod but it dint work out that well, because the U tube is 1.5 it backed up the pressure & dint skim that well, IME with that mod i would say the diffuser plate has to be a 4 inch piece of acrylic & the becketts have to conect straight to it, the box on my MR-2 is to small so i could not do that mod.
 
Does anyone here have the Grey injectors laying around?
I need 2 of them, mine are really rattleing and driving me nutz!
I don't have the money for the upgrade to the new tubes and injectors, so I want to find some of the older injectors laying around or suggestions to making them quiet.
 
Here it is RGibson all u have to do is superglue this to one side & ur set.
