I was looking at maybe going with the MRC-1 skimmer. Do you think this would be enough for a 120 or would I have to go to the MRC-2???

I'd prefer to go with the 1.

Thanks,
Justin

MRC 2 especially if you load up your tank with SPS or have a large bio-load at least then your covered. JMO.
I run the MRC 6 dual beckett on my 300 gal 500 total water volume system and its rated for 1250 gal.
I will eventually have a heavy load in the tank and feed heavily so I would rather buy over what I need now in anticipation of yet a larger tank in the future than continue to try and upgrade later at higher prices than now.
Nothing in this hobby ever gets cheaper. Plan ahead if your gonna ever upgrade your system to a larger tank and pop for the next size up that will still accomidate what you have now and what you may have later if you can afford too.:D

Yeah, I just didn't like the output on the CSS.

Right now I have ASM G-2 but think I might need a bit more for the 120

Would you not suggest the MRC?

for your 120 i would use a needlewheel skimmer

you have to clean the injector on the becket often 1 or 2 times a month

do you want something you have to tinker with or something that is set and forget

if you want to tinker with it get a beckett

if not get a needlewheel

Like that damn commercial. Set it and forget it!

Got any suggestions...And if you say something like some $2,000 Bubble King, I'm gonna scream! :D

anything that is rated for your tank should be fine

I thought the ratings were always way overrated? Should I just stick with going for a G-3 since I can pick one up cheap that doesn't have the gate valve mod. The gate valves are interchangable on the G-2 and the G-3, correct? So, I could just take the gate valve off of my G-2, right?

I don't think I would go with the g3 on a 120.. I had one setup on a 90gal and I think it could have been bigger. Look at the g4x if you have room. Bigger body, bigger pump.

I have heard the Octopus is made like maybe better than the ASM. But I have not done any research, just giving options.

Anyone have experience with the Eco Plus?

try the sunlight supply forum that is who makes them

i had a skimmer that some guy used to make himself and sell on ebay. it was called a posiedon vortex or somethin cant find em anymore. anyway that was on my 120 and worked awesome. it was $150 and was essentially a euro reef knock off and included the pump. i think jebo products are worth more than they are sold for, if you treat em right. just my $.48

something like this modded with an ocean runner pump would work well but youd have to DIY (pretty simple)
