MrV's acropora collection

Been a huge fan and follower of you on R-2-R and FB mate and I absolutely adore your tank and the colours you pull!! Are you using g3's or g4's?? I'm otssing up between saving for g4's or getting g3's at a solid price to go with a MH lol

Thank you!
I have g3 +t5s on one of my system and g4s alone on one. I honestly like the g3s+t5s much more than t5s alone. I am thinking of add more t5s to the set up.

Your tanks/corals look amazing, really interested in your parameters & if you dose anything extra... how many fish do you have?

Also, love the analogy about the girls & make-up! LOL

I have two systems, 45 gallons and 100 gallons.
Both working on the same concept: keep everything as simple as possible. Only test for Alk. One or twice a week, shooting for 8~9dkh range. And adjust Cal Dosing according to the alk.
For filtration, Both Systems relies on skimmer, chaeto and marinepure. No carbon dosing or gfo (against my philosophy of keep things simple)
I also don't test for nutrients (po4&no3) or other factors.
I dose RedSea ABCD for trace elements. And that's the only thing I dose.
About fish, I have a lot, and feed a lot too. Also feed corals using reefroid.

The 100 gallons was just started 7 months ago so mostly frags.

It's a little messy since I try to figure out which acros will have a permanent place on the scape. That's the reason why they are on the plug instead of glued down to my tock scape.

Good lord, where did you get all of these? Any frag packs in the works? I'd buy some frag futures contracts from you!

Save my contact, let me know if you need anything! [emoji6]

The new tank is looking gorgeous mate!! Can't wait to see it in another couple of months! How much of an improvement do you find the G4's to be over the G3's?? Seeing as you have both

What intensity are you running the coral lab ab+ setting? I'm at 60% now and wondering if it's too little.

I am running them at 55%.
Depending on how many fixtures you have. I have 3 on the 48" long tank so it's kind of overkill.

Simple answer is: both work! I like the g4s a little more than g3.
But they are not perfect. I feel that I need t5s to cover all the shade (corals shade themselves too).

The corals here and the photography are out of this world. Very cool Mr V! Can you share some info about your setup and your routine, in particular your nutrient export? Are you dosing anything? How often do you do water changes and how much water do you change? What is the key to your success?

The return pump problem really hit me hard. That's NCE (near crash experience[emoji28]). Lost a couple frags, a couple half dead, water quality went down hill.
But since it fixed, everything seem making a come back. Polyps start coming out and water quality improve. Even the snails are happy, they spawn!
Enough words, here are some updates pictures. The pics are mixed of 20k and blue shots. Some acros only look good on blue so please don't expect me to shot then under "œnormal light", as well as some acro look so weird, unrealistic under pure blue so 20k it is.
Try my best to show the pics as my eyes seeing them in person.

Three months since I have this acro, no more doubt it is indeed a black acro. Very unique.
Pic under 20k.

Next to it is the rr firecrackers mini colony I obtain recently by a trade (thanks tqui)
Also under 20k

Give it a little more blue and it glows![emoji15]

Also from a recent trade: RMF Psycoberry. Not fully color up yet but I can see potential. Love the rainbow polyps!

MattV Rebel. Also a new acro. Having the old school look. Super fuzzy with tiny little polyps. Look better in 20k, not glowing in blue.

Back from the death: Vivid Confetti. I was so close to remove this frag because I was certain that it's gone. But today I notice the polyps are out again! Yay!

A little dull in coloration, but I like the color theme. Goldish with purple/pink tips and polyps.

Thanks for the info. but in your opinion what is the key to obtaining these fantastic colors? I see many who use the sps ab program but very few have your results .. what can you recommend to me?

Another one V?

Thank you my friend. Just try my best to entertain everyone! [emoji6]
About my set up. I have two system, one 45 gallons tank in the middle of breaking down and moving to my new frag system (build coming shortly) and one 100 gallons system (those frag pics come from this tank since I like to start everything with frags).
I have really simple import and export method: a lot of fishes, heavy feeding. Nice skimmer, Marine Pure block and cheato take care the nutrients.
I only monitor Alk. Keep it between 8~9dkh.
I don't test for nutrients(NO3/PO4), and almost not test for cal and Mg.
I do 15 gallons water change every two weeks using ESV salt. But That's just the goal, I usually to lazy to do it.

Amazing collection as usual [emoji7]

What type of camera did you use to capture these images?

Tgc inner core, not look so good under 20k. But under blue, it's crazy.[emoji4]

On the other hand, rra The Vinh look so good under 20k. Blue polyps, blueish/white coralline with purple tips.

wow, that last one must have cost you a kidney....

Believe it or not I got it for $50 on the "œcheap frags" section. Sometime you find gold in sand. [emoji6]

Stunning!
You said your photoperiod is quite low(7 hours blue, 6 hours daylight): when the G4's are at full blast, at what percentage of the maximum are you?

No name, blue with green hairy polyps.

Between 55% and 75%. I switch back and forth depending on how the corals response.
But in AB+, white/green/red only at 24% at day light (6hours)
