That watts actual used definitely shows the waveline handling the head pressure much better then the mag18 and validates at least the head height ratings are higher for the waveline. Its great they are both rated for 150 watts at the outlet to help compare better.

Can't wait to push the levels higher and see what air draws are like with the 784. I'll probably keep bumping up around every 3 days to keep this going since there's 2 mazzei injectors and 4 settings each to get through.

So far after 1 day its producing like crazy. Foam is thicker and whiter.

Interesting stats Jay!
Although the Waveline has higher head pressure, it also uses double the wattage.
You could go upto a mag 24 before you get 112 watts after back pressure.
Can't wait to find out if having more air and flow actually makes a difference in skimmate.
I still can't get over the fact that the MTC produces triple the amount of skim than the EM 300

Yeah, with the higher headpressure ratings it will produce higher watts as it's not struggling as much to push against the pressure that's being produced by the venturi and plumbing. The more pressure against the pump the less flow and less wattage used.

So, with the Mag1800 rated at 150w at 0 head and the waveline dc 12000 rated at 150w at 0 head this tells me that the waveline dc 12000 at level 8 running at 112-113watts is producing a lot more water flow (possibly close to double) then the Mag 1800 running at 62-63 watts.

I might try that at some point. I'm also going to try and get the mazzei in a horizontal configuration as well. According to Mazzei they should be setup that way. For our application I'm not sure it matters much.

I've been periodically checking in on the Davy Jones through out the day (basement IP Cam.) and it's looking like it's double skimmate production. When I get home I'll have to check to make sure the water level hasn't risen and skimming wet.

I've reset and brought the water level back down a bit. It was only like 1 to 2 inches higher.

Sorry can't help but check in early. Back on track with the dry skimmate and it's still producing amazingly awesomely.

Best performance yet of any skimmer I've ever owned. Biggest beast I've had previously was a reef octopus SRO 3000. Around 42scfh air draw and it produced about 4 cups per day wet. I haven't even gotten into wet skimming yet. Or at least on purpose to test out.

Biggest issue I had with the SRO 3000 was instability. It would just overflow out of no where. The aquamaxx was very consistant but did go crazy with LRS frozen. This MVX has been rock solid through any kinds or amounts of food I've thrown at it.

That looks like 3/4ish gallons to me or around 4 cups per day

Ended up averaging around 114 watts

I've got a quick 4 day hiatus on this as I'll be testing something else out over the next few days. After that its off to the races with level 9.

LEVEL 9!

I had to clean this out tonight

I can see why those really tall skimmer can have really long necks. This sucker, even though it was running with the water level that low, was pushing foam all the way up to the collection cup still

Then wiping that gunk out of the body was like, well, cleaning up baby poop. Best way to describe it. Smeared supper easy but if it touched anything it just stuck to it. Had its own unique nasty smell though.

Anyway, back to, LEVEL 9!

That's hard to see but that right there is about 1.5 gallons. OR about 6 CUPS PER DAY!

I'll have to crunch the numbers later as I have a few other things to work on but will see if the production out weighs the wattage used.

Sucker is pulling like between 20 and 22scfh

No wait! That can't be right. That's what level 9 was pulling. I put the hose to my ear and I could hear some crackling. I got 1/2 cup ro/di and microwaved it for 2 minutes. Brought it down and shoved the hose in it.

Gave it another minute to get all that through the air tube and listened again. A nice smooth flow of air. That was easy.

Ok, Level 10

Sucker is pulling like 24 scfh!

And something in the 140's watts wise. I'll check tomorrow night to get a good running average.

Just have 11 and 12 to go! Then the 784 mazzei starting back on level 8.

The waveline is pushing through that mazzei extremely well and handling the head height much better then I expected. This also then has the one down side of allowing the Waveline to pull more watts for those that want to be energy saving savvy.

But the production is so much more.

vs. wattage used: 3.2% "efficiency"
vs. air draw: 2.6% "performance"

MTC MVX with Mag18 and MVX stock 684 mazzei venturi
vs. wattage used: 4.8% "efficiency"
vs. air draw: 25% "performance"

MTC MVX with Mag18 and 784 mazzei
vs. wattage used: 4.5% "efficiency"
vs. air draw: 21.4% "performance"

Waveline DC 12000 @ Level 8 w/ 684 mazzei
vs. wattage used: 3.5% "efficiency"
vs. air draw: 22.2% "performance"

Waveline DC 12000 @ Level 9 w/ 684 mazzei
vs. wattage used: 4.7% "efficiency"
vs. air draw: 27.3% "performance"

Ok, now that's interesting. The most "efficient" setup so far is the recommended MTC MVX setup with the Mag 18 and stock 684 mazzei. It's also so far the second best "performance." The waveline dc 12000 @ level 9 just pushes past it in regards to the performance ratio. So far, they are all more energy efficient if you consider the production vs. energy used then the Aquamaxx with much lower wattage usage.

That's awesome. Again, it's amazing what so little air draw with that mag 18 was doing.

Level 10 performed about as well as level 9. ~6cups per day even with a bit more air draw of 24scfh. So with it running close to 20watts more I'm not sure 10 is worth it. Could be pushing to much water through.
