I am thinking about getting a Muelleri Butterfly from DD if it is still available. I am wondering how it might do with my dendros and Rhyzo?? I have another tank to move the corals to without much problem but would rather not if I could get away with it. Any thoughts??
Thanks for the info. BTW, your pic of your Muelleri is gorgeous . I decided to get the guy from DD. I plan on leaving the two corals in the tank at first and see what happens. My guess is that the dendros may be the most at risk. The Rhyzo will surely close up and show it is being bothered and I can move it. I'll be getting the Muelleri on Tuesday, Can't wait .
How's your tank doing?? Hope all is well
Doing fine. In the midst of fragging and restocking; my rite of late autumn.
Peter makes a good point though. Normally I target feed my corals after lights out. The fish is still awake and picking then too but it seems that by the time it's done taking food that escapes into the water column, the LPS has pretty much gotten what it wants.
Agree 100%. Butterflys and angels are really quick learners. Also, we don't feed them anywhere near the optimum amount / quality of foodstuffs, so when they see you doing this...well....its all downhill from there.
IME they will then continually harass the coral whenever they're hungry as they now associate it with food.:thumbdown
I only target feed my Rhyzo rarely and then only after lights are out. Both the Rhyzo and dendro are in the path of the food and get tidbits regularly everyday as the food falls on them in the water flow. It has worked out remarkably well. No fish bothers either of them to this point. I may still, in time, decide to move the two corals to my other tank. We shall see. the new fish arrives tomorrow .
