Multicontroller question

Hi Roger,

I have one 6100 (for now) and a multicontroller. I want to run it in pulse mode but I would also like it to stop completely at regular intervals. My understanding is that in tidal mode only one pump is on at a time but when I set it to that mode the pump runs continuously. Could you please clear this up for me?

Also I will be purchasing a second pump, the tank is 62" L x 30"D x 24" H, the 6100 is set at 30% and 50%, the flow is still a little strong at that level, so my question is would the 6000 be enough in veiw of my settings for the 6100?

The 6000 would be enough, though I think you could increase the output of the 6100 eventually. The multicnotroller can only use tide mode when two pumps are connected. The only mode available with one pump is pulse mode. When you get a second pump use the first and last sockets and the interval light will come on and then you can do it.

thanks roger, why do you think that eventually I could increase the flow? I ask because I'm torn between getting another 6100 or a 6000. Will the output be less turbulent when the second pump is connected?

If I buy the 6000 would it be easy to buy a 6100 transformer later, and if so from where?(neither premium aquatics or marine depot show it on their websites)

thanks again.

Well, on a 6ft 180 you can use 2 6100's full blast. The ocean has far more flow than I think most hobbyists can fathom. The corals once acclimated can take an increased flow. Now, if the aquarium was mine the ideal would be 2 6000's but the flow only carries 4ft so I would use pulse mode so neither one is ever off. If you are doing SPS they really like high flow (at least acros do). As for transformer availability, they are about as available as Streams so plan to wait a while. The transformers in 115V are usually the limiting factor on Stream availability here but they can be had.
