i was wondering what angels reactions to one another are. will they co exist or fight to the death? in the near future ill have two tanks going up. one reef and one a fowlr. the angels im interested in are as following:
marculosus angelfish
passer angelfish
imperator angel
red sea regal
queen angelfish
bellus
interruptus
the reef will be a 1,100g and the fowlr will be in the 200-500g range that will go up as soon as the reef is running. im wondering which i can house in the fowlr and which if any will get to live in the reef. the only certain one is the interruptus in the reef. so id appreciate others thoughts, comments, suggestions, and concerns. TIA

i've seen people keep red sea regal's, emperor's in their reef and i plan on putting both those fish in my 280 if there is room. The passer, macrculosus and queen don't do well in reefs. Though i've seen atleast two people around these forums trying to keep a queen in a reef. I tired it for a few months with no problems but it was only 4inches not sure on any long term success. The bellus and interruptus i have no experience with so not sure how they would work out.

the queens can demolish your reef ive seen it happen to a friend. keeping multiple angels can be done but diffrent shapes and colors is a must. i have a emperor and a chryserus together. the chryserus used to be with a queen but the queen took over the tank. my emperor nips corals but every one is diffrent.

so what if i put all these angels except the interruptus in a fowlr together? would anyone foresee any certain fights? are there any two that just wont co exist together?

I have a Wantanabi and a Chrysarus (Adult) in my reef. The Wantanabi is entirely reef safe. The Chrysarus, who owns the tank, does well with many corals and inverts. Zoas and Polyps however are treated like candy.... he sucks them down. Lobophylia, Open Brains and Candy Canes are not safe, however most other LPS and most SPS are OK, including clams.. He definitely has an affinity for bright green though. Bad for carpets, good for Ritteris!

I build the tank around his dislikes. ;)

Passer and Mac's are the most aggressive. Long term they don't play well with others. Add the emporor last. IME most angels do well in reefs, except for LPS (they will most likely demolish them.) I haven't had any real issues with any of the other angels with clams, SPS or softies. Key is to keep them well fed, so have a large skimmer and good filtration. This tank had no problems.
