Multiple dwarf angels in same tank

I have a 100 gal reef and my question is I'm seeing a lot of people with two or more dwarf angels in a tank. Now when I got into the hobby about 6 years ago I was told not to mix dwarf angels and that's what I am still hearing from different sites. Example...Flame angel and pygmy angel in same tank. I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations on what I can do such as good combinations. Also gallon size to the number of angels. I love angels please help!:D

i would at least add them at the same time to reduce aggression. with that big of a tank your chance for success with proper husbandry is good! Flames are my fav!

My flame angel went into my display 4 months after the coral beauty. The CB certainly wasn't happy at first but now they are totally cool with each otrher. As with alot of fish that you're not supposed to min, it can be done with a big enough tank and good aquascaping so fish can get lost in a second.

I was told the same thing
In my 100g I have 2 flames, 1 Herald's, 1 coral beauty, 1 cherub & a Singapore angel

I recently added a bicolor who got along fine for the 48 hours he survived, but he came with some kind of problem/disease.

One thing I would recommend is tons of rockwork. My flame was chasing the CB and I added more rocks - problem solved. Also my rocks are mostly freestanding so they can swim all the way around in back & front & I have 3 & a half separate bommies

If you have that many angels, you have more chance one or more will pick on the corals. I had to remove an open brain that was open buffet for the Herald's angel

HTH :)

The most compatible angel has been the Herald's similar in the way the Singapore is which is not a dwarf - no compatibility issues ever with this fish (you'd expect the Singapore to get along with everybody)

Glad I'm not the only one that hasn't been able to keep a Bicolour alive more than a few days. Tried twice and one lived about 3 days and the other was dead by morning. I think I'm ready to try again though. I have a bit more experience now and better tanks.

Does anyone have a flame or coral beauty with one of the smaller dwarf pygmys?

My little white-tail pygmy (C. flavicauda) seems a fair bit more aggressive than the larger dwarfs. I'd love to add another into the mix but didn't think it would be ok with the cherub/flameback/whitetail sized angels...

Thanks for the info everyone. I thought about introducing two angels at the same time and crossing my fingers but if they killed each other I'd feel bad and so would my wallet (depending on the angel). I love flame angels but I have noticed in the past how aggresive they were. I was thinking Potter's angel and a pygmy, or potter's and a coral beauty as the way to go.

i have a 210 reef with extensive rockwork and a yellow tang and a coral beauty, i was wanting to add a flame angel and a blue throat trigger-any thoughts?!?!?!?

Sounds absolutely fine to me. I have those two angels, a YT and I'd add a blue throat if I could get one.

You should be totally fine.

I had a YT, a flame and a pygmy in my 75.

Yup. You should be fine. I have a blue throat trigger with my multicolors, flame and colini. Only issue with the blue throat trigger is that for some reason my large bluespot angel doesn't like him? But nothing serious. If mixing angels try to keep the time between introductions as short as possible to not allow one to establish itself too long.
