Multiple melanurus wrasse ?

Most likely 2 male melanurus wrasses will fight in the same tank. If you were to get 2 females and let one turn into a male, this would be a much safer solution.

Yellow coris are pretty peaceful. I have seen multiple specimens coexist peacefully in a tank numerous times.

The green coris is usually pretty aggressive for a Halichoeres wrasse and usually loses its bright green coloring and ends up a very pale green. There are exceptions but very rare exceptions.

^Agree there.

I'd stress two males of the same species isn't likely to end well, unless the tank is very large (300+).

Thanks. How about adorned wrasse and melanurus wrasse in the same tank ?

adorned has quite the aggression propensity, but alongside Halichoeres it should be fine. It might well preclude you from adding any other Cirrhilabrus and/or Paracheilinus in the future however.

I have a female melanurus about 4". can I add a male? someone said the female may change to a male anyway.

I would recomend just adding another female. The melanurus you have could have already begun its transition to male and if so will not tolerate a male being added.

I realize this is a slightly old thread, but.. I was wondering what you guys thought about possibly adding a small female melanurus in with a 4-5 year old male melanurus?
