Multiple tangs in a 125g

I'm just starting a 125 gallon reef tank and am considering including three tanks (yellow, blue & blue caribean). I've read (everywhere) that a 'NO NO but I see pictures on RC of tanks with multiple tangs. If I start with young tangs and add them within a2 or 3 week time period; would that help or should I 'forget about it". Thanks, Jim

I don't have much experience here but from everything I've read it's a definite no-no!!!! Hopefully someone who knows more will be able to give you a better idea.

I have a 180 and i have 6 tangs right now that are an average of 4 inches and i'm planning on adding more.

I have a 180 and have a Yellow, Pacfic Blue, and a Powder Blue all are doing great. I also plan on adding at least 2 more in the future.

If I start out with small tangs, how long does it take for them to get full size? As for why so many: they are beautiful and it's hard to pick just one color. Also the yellow is a verocios algae eater and I have plenty of food for it.
Thanks for all the inputs, Jim

I currently have a sailfin, purple. blonde naso, yellow and Lt. tang in my 225.

I had a PB and hippo but both of those ick magnets did not survive the aggravation that they brought to my tank. (Ick)

All of the tangs get along just fine.

I am also looking to add a fowlerii, and barriene at some point.

I have 2 purple Tangs and a Sailfin in my 120. The Purples fight a bit but overall the 3 get along pretty well. They are healthy and all seem to have mapped out their territory.

In a 125 you should be fine I personally wouldn't get more than 3 or 4 I have had 2 in a 65 at one time I introduced them in at the same time and they were fine I think since they didn't have time to claim territory .

I have a powder blue, regal and a kole in my 210. I say go for it, you should be good and if they are juvinelle you should be good for a few years at least.

I have a yellow tang in a 75 and am thinking of adding another tang of some sort down the line. Youd be surprised how bare a 125 with just three tangs is going to look.

In the short term, I'll be OK but there seems to be a risk when they grow into adults. Am I right that it's only 2 years until I have full size adults???

i have a yellow, 2-pac. blue's, sailfin, scopas in my 180. They are all doing great together. I will say this though, the yellow tang is the most aggresive fish in my tank (total of 13 fish). He chases all other newbies around for days. and still shows aggression to the others from time to time. If I were to do it again, I wouldnt add a yellow tang to the mix. I have read the same however, No, no, no.. right? I havent seen that at all. best of luck.

IN A SMALL TANK THEY WILL FIGHT AND ONE WILL DYE OR BOTH ..THE BIGGER THE TANK THE LESS PROBLEM OR FIGHT WILL NOT HAPPEN..I HAVE A 210G TANK FOWLR AND I HAVE 3 YELLOW TANGS,1 PURPLE TANG,1 BLACK TANG,1 BLUE POWDER TANG,1 CLOWN TANG,2 SAILFIN TANG.MIX WITH ANGELS AND BUTTERFLY:dance:

Then I assume you know you should be expecting some of your tangs to die. Even a large tank can seem small to the fish when they are overcrowded. It sounds like your tank is seriously overstocked. Especially with the clown tang in there. You said angels as in plural. How many do you have?

I have 5 yellow tangs 4", 1 naso 12", a Lt. tang 8" and all play good. They are in a 325 FOWLR. There are a couple of other angles in the tank as well.

The 5 yellow tangs were all introduce at the same time about 7 months ago.
