Multiple Tangs

Does anyone have any knowledge of multiple tangs of the same species in the same tank? I Belive in the wild most tangs/surgeons school. Have plans of setting up a 300-350 Gallon 8-10' long tank, basically undecided yet lol. What are the chances of getting a species of tang to "school" or co-exist? Too small of a tank? Does this even happen in captivity? Anyone had succcess, if so, what species? Any direction would be apreciated.

Go to the 180 gallon and larger Forum. You will see there are many tanks in there that have multiple yellow tangs and multiple hippos. Maybe they can give you advice. I know they say to add them in all at once if your going to do it. This ould give you the best success rate. No one fish would get the territory first.

pefect, thanks Mark. Ive been reading article and reviews about it being "ok" to add muiltple Yellows (which was what I was thinking in the first place), as long as you add them all at once. Ill re-post in there once Im closer to the build!

With many tangs; 3+ works well (assuming enough room), but just 2 doesn't.

Agree I started with 5 yellow tangs but one never thrived and just kicked it one day with no sign of getting bullied in fact he was the meanest in the group and I still have the other 4 a year later with no issues I get a occasional tussle but nothing that causes damage or undue stress
