Multiple Wrasse's in 75 gal?

I had a blue sided fairy, yellow coris, and Xmas in a 75g without problems. Personally I think you'll be fine

Awesome. I know that several species of fish cannot be kept with others of the same or similar. I always thought this to be true with wrasses until I read a post of someone housing multiple. Thank you.

From what I've read the Sixline will just become super agressive towards any other wrasse. I currently have a Melanarus, yellow coris, and red head solon fairy in a 75 that get along peacefully.

The fungus is among us.
There are plenty of combinations of 2-4 wrasses that will work in a 75. But likely not with a 6line. Get that out and your options expand dramatically.

That's what I had remembered reading too. But midmich has had success keeping one with others, and I know with enough space keeping otherwise hostile pairs can be possible. I just don't know if 75 gals is enough. They are both small fish but super active.

I should mention I love the yellow coris, but the six line seems to be one of the most relentless predatory wise I've seen. Always on the hunt and make meals out of relatively unpalatable critters. I had an outbreak of tiny brown flatworms, and since the sixlines addition I haven't seen one. I find the sixline attractive also but the colors are great camouflage and he doesn't stand out.

if you want ANY other wrasses, ditch the sixline, they may start out shy and timid, but that little 2 inch fish will literally slaughter other wrasses, even pylei, or flames or lineatus. plus there are many many many better looking am more disirable species available. JM2c

I know how aggressive they can be. I had one for a few years in the past (jumper). I just didn't know if it would be possible with the extra space. And I've never had another wrasse, but was hoping they would be a tough enough to put the sixline in its place. Apparently not. Thanks for the advice.

a year ago i was told by friends and local forums to not add a six line if i plan to have my tank wrasse dominant tank. but i did add one, so with a pair of flame, a pair of rhomboid, a mystery, a velvet, a pair of lineatus.
i was flamed for adding a six line and a mystery wrasse on the same tank for i was told that they will harass and kill each other. but they did get along fine even after a year later they swim together and eat together and even stare at the tank for hours to see if there is an aggression, none, zero, they get along fine.
altho the difference might be i have a 90g with a lot of hiding places which i think makes them less aggressive for they have their own territories.
just my 2 cents.

So I do believe I have seen a melanarus wrasse at a shop in the twin cities. I remember the neon lines on his head. If it was the same wrasse, it was expensive. I'm not so sure I'm willing to take a chance (I guess I'd rather not take a chance regardless of price). The only local shop (other than petco) closed. I live about an hour and a half from the cities. So my options for the six line if things were to not work out are not good. I have a ton of rock in my 75 with lots of hiding spaces. I don't know the habits of the melanarus, but during the day the six line is on the hunt through every square inch of my rockwork. Not sure what to do. I know when I first started out in the hobby I had a sixline and a yellow tail damsel together (both extremely aggressive) and they were best friends, slept in the same cave. The yellow tail became too agressive hearding all the other fish to the corners of the tank. Never had an issue with the wrasse before or after the damsel (aggressive but not harassing). I should mention other tankmates are a pink spot goby, pair of occelaris clowns, tomini tang, and a royal gramma. the royal gramma hates the wrasse but has quit harassing him and decided to only protect its territory. Haha. I guess Ill just have to way options.
