Multiple Wrasses

Eel Freak

Fimbriated Moray
Hi!

I keep seeing tanks on here with several wrasses in them... I love wrasses but I once added two small fairy wrasses to a 125 that had a variety of other fish and one six line. It mauled them and they perished.... Ever since then I've avoided additional wrasses.

Do I still stand a chance of this occurring again? Now I have a 205g tank (8' x 2' x 20.5"H) with a large amount of rock, the same six line, and still a variety of other fish. Am I still stuck with only one wrasse? Or is there a known method of adding them in this scenario? Thanks

Ok man how big is your six line a great method I adding wrasses is to put them in at night because other wrasses sleep so he won't get beat up right off the bat. I have lineatus rhomboid HI flame mystery and leopard all in one take these are all males and have a pair with each no fighting I think it's probly the six line if you get another wrasse put it in at night and get a wrasse to match his size if you really like him.

Catch the six line with a soda bottle trap, put him in the sump, buy your new wrasse add it to the tank. Give it a week then put the six line back in

Get rid of the 6 line , then add the fish just before lights out . Give them chance to be aware of the new one once the chasing starts you can shut the lights down . Come morning all is normally fine

Okay! Thanks everyone for the input... I figured he'd still be a problem. If I fall in love with a wrasse or two, then perhaps I'll undergo his removal, but for now I'm content with collecting other fish species!

I agree with the removal and then adding again in a week or two. Wrasse are great and I am a wrasse addict. Having several species in the same is usually ok. I am going to caution you however if they have the same or similar coloring DO NOT add them together...DANGER Will Robinson DANGER!!! One will hunt the other into hiding (starvation can occur) or death. I have 4 different species in my 125 and they get along but they look nothing alike. Just do your research and you should be fine.

Blue star leopard or if God smiles on me the jewel leopard wrasse, and a mystery wrasse... Is that sure disaster in a 60, or if I get the leopard first and let it settle in, do youI think I have a shot?

After catching the Wrasse bug from Brad, we had to drain our tank to catch our Sixline. However, when it comes to the endless beauty of wrasses, it was well worth it. Come to think of it... We decided to pull out the Sixline after he nearly harassed our newly added pair of Helfrichi Firefish and Jawfish to death. Then the addiction began (although on a slower and smaller scale). I would suggest pulling the Sixline out- period.
