Mushroom Coral dying?

Hello!

My friend gave me a Mushroom coral yesturday and I let it float around to find a spot to attach. But when I woke up this morning, I found it in bad shape. So I attached it to a rock.

Any ideas on what is wrong? and if it will come back healthy?
Thanks!!!!

I've never heard of letting it float around that is probably your problem but if the tank has good conditions it should recover mushrooms are very hardy

Thanks but Ive looked around alot and many people say to let it float around because it takes a while to attach by itself, and because super glue usually wont stick, in this case it has though

I've heard of them detaching from a rock and floating by themselves to find a new spot...but I've never seen it.

How long have your lights been on when this was taken (if they are on?) I would give it a couple days to fully acclimate and look at it when your lights are on. It should be fine. It may also just be annoyed - They do this when there are sharp parameter changes. Did you acclimate it at all before dropping it in?

FWIW - Mine shrivel a bit every night, then extend back out a little after the lights hit them again.

Free-floating mushrooms can damage some of the more sensitive corals if they land on them. They have some kind of mucus that is slightly toxic. Had one land on a plating monti, which promptly started reacting very negatively.
Anyway..shrooms are pretty tough, it'll probably make a comeback.

So should I keep my lights off for a while? It was detached from where it was super glued this morning, I took someones advice and put it in a cup with some rubble to attach to in my tank

Alright I can't get it to attach so it's just floating now, it keeps getting stuck under a rock and I'm not sure what to do! Please help!

Rubber band just enough to hold it to a rock, not tight at all. Put it in light. ANd what's your alkalinity? SHould be 8.3. That can affect them.
