Mushroom Coral stressing other corals?

My first tank is about 6 months in. I've got a pretty decent-sized button polyp colony on it's on rock that my two clownfish have hosted. In the past few weeks I have noticed that some of the polyps are smaller than the rest and they seem to be a little more sparse than normal. Usually the whole rock is covered with long, big polyps.

I had no idea what was causing this until the other day I saw a little tiny red mushroom coral growing on the same rock. I do have a flat rock with red mushroom coral that is growing like mad and seems to be spreading around the tank here and there.

How can I help the button polyp colony? I see it as my clownfish' home and they're having trouble sleeping in it at night with the lack of big polyps to hold them in.

Also... does the red mushroom coral gotta go?

I don't think mushrooms are doing it since they are both softies. Softies that are good at chemical warfare are leathers.

My zoos are closing whenever a fish passes by or when I change my lights. Sometimes one of my newly bought zoas took almost a week to be open.

What are the parameters? Are there new lights or is there any other tank inhabitant that may bother it?
